Who is Vernita Sherman?

Hi my name is Vernita Sherman and I am the owner and creator of VernitaSherman.com. I started my home business journey in March of 2003, and in the past 7 years I have been an internet marketer, affiliate marketer, and a network marketer who has promoted various products and services in various industries.  

I live in Atlanta, GA, but I'm originally from Northern Virginia (raised in Falls Church and Arlington) which is the suburbs of Washington DC.

Back in 2001 I was 20 going on 21 and struggling financially. I didn't have a college degree to rely on, so I had to start at the bottom and work my way up the ladder.  I was working two jobs, but it was still hard. I tried to live the life that my parents provided me with growing up, but I just couldn't do that with the little bit of chump change of an income that I was making. I had no furniture, barely enough money to pay the bills, I built up credit card debt to supplement my income, and I had no food in my refrigerator - Thank God I was working at McDonald's! I was broke, tired of being broke, and tired of being sick and tired.

As an only child I grew up spoiled, but I am very independent - I don't like asking anyone for favors and I was determined to make it on my own somehow. I decided to look for a way to make money at home. I saw many ads in the paper talking about how you could work from home and make thousands. My first try at this work from home thing was stuffing envelopes. To make a long story short, it was a scam and I lost my money.

I have had MANY jobs throughout the years, but for some reason I always went back to McDonald's (maybe I'll own my own franchise one day). Eventually I left Mcdonald's to start a career in law enforcement, but I still wasn't satisfied financially.

In early 2003 my search for making money at home became very extensive. By this time everyone had a computer and was using the internet, and I knew there had to be a way to capitalize on this trend. To make a long story short, I tried everything - internet marketing, affiliate marketing, mlm/network marketing...EVERYTHING! I also started to develop a passion for internet marketing and making my home business an actual business and not just a way of making a little extra money on the side.

The Trials and Tribulations of Starting My Own Home Based Business...

Throughout the years I had purchased all kinds of ebooks, software, courses (both online and offline), I studied internet marketing and network marketing like they were long term college courses. I developed copywriting skills, I taught myself how to create websites, how to use autoresponders, how to optimize my websites, how to use PPCs (pay per click search engines), how to write and publish articles, reverse marketing, how to close people over the phone, how to use conference call software, domain name strategies, how to develop digital products and get a merchant account...the list goes on and on...but guess what? I failed miserably.

Yes I made money, but nowhere near as much money as I had spent. I had all the internet and network marketing knowledge in the world, but I didn't know how to put it all together to make the kind of money that would allow me to put in my two weeks notice. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. I switched back and forth from internet marketing to network marketing...I created my own products to sell, then I switched back to being an affiliate.. I joined mentoring programs, I did what my company told me to do, but I still failed.

So I thought it was the company; therefore, I bounced around from company to company both online and offline. I have sold everything from website hosting service to Goji Juice...but still no massive break through.

I did the three way calls with my upline, I went to friends and family, I listened in on conference calls, I passed out fliers and business cards, I mailed out information packets, I bought leads...I did everything they told me to do...but guess what? I still failed. My credit card debt was worse than ever, because I spent so much money on what I thought was the solution to my not making any money with my home business problem. My car note was over 3 months past due, I had a personal loan that was 3 months past due, and all my bills were paid late.

By 2006 my credit score had dropped significantly. Every day was a failed home business day for me. Those days turned into weeks, those weeks turned into months, and those months turned into years. I was so frustrated, broke, and burned out! I wanted to give up, but I had developed a deep passion for making my business work so I continued to learn, fail, test, fail, try, fail and keep failing...until one day I stopped failing.
 
Can you believe it took me 5 years to get it right? 5 Years! 2008 was the year that I finally figured out how to put everything together and have my money work for me.  I started teaching other home business owners what I had learned and how they could attract prospects to them and increase their income. Also by this time my web designing skills started to rival professional web designers; but what made me different was that I also had internet marketing skills too.

All those years of testing, tweaking, and reading has giving me more than enough internet marketing and web designing skills to help entrepreneurs in all industries develop an online presence. So in late 2008 Virtual Marketing Media was born as in internet marketing consulting and small business web design company in Atlanta, GA.  Now instead of offering web design, I offer various internet marketing and SEO services to small businesses.

No matter how much I profit from offering internet marketing services to business owners, there is nothing like making residual income.  I longed to be apart of a network marketing company and being that I have implemented a long list of internet marketing and network marketing strategies in my business ventures, I know what works and what doesn’t work from years of trial and error.
